Austin ISD's graduation rate for the 2013-14 school year was 86.3 percent, its highest percentage ever, the district said in a news release June 9.
This is the sixth consecutive year that AISD’s graduation rate has increased, rising 12 percentage points since the 2007-08 school year.
AISD Superintendent Paul Cruz said in the news release that the record rate and “every success” in AISD to the teachers in the classrooms and the programs for students.
The district’s dropout rate also made a new record, decreasing to 1.5 percent, its lowest yet. The dropout rate decreased 2.7 percentage points since the 2007-08 year.
Special education students had the greatest improvement in dropout rates, which decreased from 5.7 percent in 2007-08 to 2.8 percent in 2013-14.
AISD graduation rates for all students:
- 2007-08: 74.3 percent
- 2008-09: 75.6 percent
- 2009-10: 78.6 percent
- 2010-11: 80 percent
- 2011-12: 82.5 percent
- 2012-13: 84.1 percent
- 2013-14: 86.3 percent
AISD dropout rates for all students:
- 2007-08: 4.2 percent
- 2008-09: 4 percent
- 2009-10: 4 percent
- 2010-11: 3.9 percent
- 2011-12: 3.7 percent
- 2012-13: 2.7 percent
- 2013-14: 1.5 percent
