Heather Biagas, owner of Lil’ Mama’s Corner Café, said she has always wanted to satisfy her community’s sweet tooth. Her Pflugerville cafe offers sandwiches,
casseroles and salads as well as preservative-free desserts made from scratch.

Biagas said her shop stands out because the building is yellow and orange, and her food is always fresh. She said her sandwiches have different ingredients than what customers might expect.

For instance she said she serves her ham sandwich with white cheddar rather than Swiss cheese.

“When this space opened up last year I saw the opportunity to provide something different,” Biagas said.

Biagas said she is known for her Brownie Bottom Cheesecake. She said growing up on the East Coast fostered a love for both cheesecake and brownies.

Biagas said she originally planned to open a bakery, but after doing research on the industry in Austin she decided to consolidate a cafe and a bakery. She attended culinary school at Austin Community College, which she said gave her the tools she needed to create a unique menu.

“We are just local people trying to make local sandwiches and give people the opportunity to try something else,” Biagas said.

Biagas said she and her four staff members shop for fresh ingredients three times each week on average. Biagas said she does not pre-make food and serve it later because she likes to give customers the option of customizing their meals.

Around the holidays Biagas said Lil’ Mama’s Corner Café is busy making mini loaves and Christmas cookies for office holiday parties for local businesses.

“There is something great about local businesses working with each other,” Biagas said.

This summer Lil’ Mama’s Corner Café will celebrate its one-year anniversary by starting bun sales at the cafe as well as offering additional desserts.

“It keeps me busy,” Biagas said. “But I love what I do.”

Catering

Biagas said when it comes to catering, Lil’ Mama’s does it all.

The catering menu emphasizes sandwiches and salads as well as casseroles.

Biagas said although Lil’ Mama’s tries to stick to regular menu options, the eatery will create something special if requested.

Lil’ Mama’s Corner Café catering can suit the needs of parties from 10 to 200 people, Biagas said.
