Robert Daigh, Williamson County senior director of infrastructure, presented anupdateon the progress of repairs to the Justice Center parking garage to theCommissioners Court at its Jan. 14 meeting.

Daigh said repairs were on schedule and going well at his last walkthrough of the garage with Restek Inc., a concrete restoration company from Austin.

On the disappointing side, we are finding a high percentage of existing welds are not acceptable, Daigh said. They are having to grind off and re-weld every weld in the garage. But the quality of work is going very well.

The court approved a $570,495 contract with Restek Inc. on Oct. 15 to repair and reinforce the garage, located between Third, Fourth and Rock streets in Georgetown. The garage has been closed since 2011 due to structural issues.

Daigh said he still expects the garage to be open by end of April this year.
