Capital Metro is continuing to require all passengers, customers and employees to wear face masks through April 18.

The Transportation Safety Administration extended this mask mandate based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s federal policy. The extended mask mandate will apply to all public transportation and transportation hubs.

Single-ply coverings and bandanas are prohibited as they do not meet federal requirements. Capital Metro vehicles will provide face masks if a customer does not have one.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is under the same federal regulations through April 18. ABIA will also provide masks to passengers who do not have one. Fines and civil penalties could be given to those who refuse to comply with regulations, according to ABIA staff.
