Iron Works Barbecue, located at 100 Red River Street in Austin, will offer free lunch on Wednesday to all on-duty police officers, FBI and ATF agents.

General manager Aaron Morris said he and his aunt, owner Charlotte Finch, made the decision to offer the free lunches Wednesday morning, after seeing the news that police had closed the investigation and the suspect, Mark Conditt, had died.

Iron Works Barbecue is located downtown about a mile from Austin Police Department's main headquarters, so the restaurant has a strong tie with law enforcement.

"We've always fed the police officers," Morris said. "We've been down by the police station for 40 years now. A lot of these officers who've been working double and triple overtime are our regular customers. It was a really easy decision to show our gratitude."

Morris lives in Southwest Austin, near the Sunset Valley FedEx Office store where police say a package containing explosives may have originated. Finch, also a Southwest Austin resident, lives close to the Travis Country neighborhood where an explosive injured two Sunday night.

"This was hitting close to home, and (it was a) relief that our local law enforcement and government law enforcement agents were able to get this under control," Morris said.
