If you don’t already know that Lebowski’s Grill operates inside Highland Lanes on Burnet Road, you might miss the sign for the burger joint posted at the corner of the long-time North Austin bowling alley.

Even once you’re inside, Lebowski’s looks a lot like any other unassuming bowling alley concessions spot: an order window, a small kitchen and a menu featuring burgers, chicken tenders and fries. But owner Helen Alger says there’s more to Lebowski’s than meets the eye.

In a new recurring segment featuring local businesses from around the Austin area, the Austin Breakdown podcast host Olivia Aldridge sits down at Lebowski's with Alger and discusses the successes and challenges of the business, which has recently struggled to find staff even as business picks up and the dive's burgers get rave reviews from customers.

Also on the Sept. 2 episode, Community Impact's Darcy Sprague stops by the studio to discuss Central Texas' record-breaking summer heat and what it indicates about Austin's climate in the years to come.
