Austin is going to continue growing over the next five years, with its population projected to reach 943,555 by 2020, according to a city of Austin report obtained Wednesday by Community Impact Newspaper.

The report from the city's Office of the Auditor reveals some interesting citywide data as well as snapshots of what affordability, or lack thereof, looks like in all 10 of Austin’s geographic single-member districts.

Community Impact Newspaper’s Central Austin coverage area includes Austin City Council districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10. Here are some of the findings for those districts:

District 1:



  • Population slated to grow from estimated 83,695 in 2015 to 95,655 in 2020

  • $39,790 median household income

  • $193,650 median appraised home value

  • Top three industries were construction, accommodation/food services, and health care

  • 46 percent Hispanic, 26 percent African-American, 23 percent white, 3 percent Asian, 2 percent other


District 3:



  • Population slated to grow from estimated 84,464 in 2015 to 92,224 in 2020

  • $29,430 median household income

  • $224,850 median appraised home value

  • Top three industries were construction, accommodation/food services, and educational services

  • 62 percent Hispanic, 25 percent white, 8 percent African-American, 3 percent Asian, 2 percent other


District 5:



  • Population slated to grow from estimated 91,482 in 2015 to 103,462 in 2020

  • $59,000 median household income

  • $233,290 median appraised home value

  • Top three industries were retail trade, professional/tech services and educational services

  • 58 percent white, 33 percent Hispanic, 4 percent African-American, 3 percent Asian, 3 percent other


District 7:



  • Population slated to grow from estimated 85,639 in 2015 to 93,278 in 2020

  • $55,750 median household income

  • $264,140 median appraised home value

  • Top three industries were professional/tech services, educational services and retail trade

  • 55 percent white, 24 percent Hispanic, 10 percent Asian, 8 percent African-American, 3 percent other

  • Population slated to grow from estimated 78,670 in 2015 to 87,079 in 2020

  • $39,230 median household income

  • $457,450 median appraised home value

  • Top three industries were educational services, professional/tech services and accommodation/food services

  • 66 percent white, 18 percent Hispanic, 10 percent Asian, 3 percent African-American, 3 percent other


District 10:



  • Population slated to grow from estimated 85,533 in 2015 to 92,540 in 2020

  • $83,890 median household income

  • $522,270 median appraised home value

  • Top three industries were professional/tech services, educational services, and health care

  • 77 percent white, 10 percent Hispanic, 9 percent Asian, 2 percent African-American, 2 percent other
