1. Austinites have a chance to be a part of a private dinner party at Franklin Barbecue. For the second year in a row, We Are Blood—formerly the Blood Center of Central Texas—is partnering with the barbecue restaurant to host 30 local donors and their guests Feb. 11. For a chance to win, donate to any We Are Blood donor center or mobile drive in January. Winners will be announced Feb. 3.

2. There's still time to apply for the city of Austin's new Artist-in-Residence program. The nine-month pilot program will embed an artist within a city department to help resolve problems, provide innovative or new process improvements, and engage residents around community issues in creative ways. The Watershed Protection Department is the first to participate in this pilot program. Interested artists have until 5 p.m. on Feb. 16 to apply.

3. Following a successful year of more than 200,000 rides on its B-cycles, the city of Austin is growing its bicycle share program with longer ride times, expansions of current stations and additional station locations. As of Jan. 18, all Austin B-cycle memberships include 60 minutes of no-charge ride time for each trip—a change from the 30-minutes the system previously offered. Twenty-four-hour access passes will increase from $8 to $12, and new stations will be added 13th Street and San Antonio Street, on Henderson Street between Sixth and Ninth streets, at Congress Avenue and Cesar Chavez Street, and at Barton Springs Road and Sterzing Street.

4. Update Jan. 23: Barton Springs Pool has reopened and resumed its regular hours of 5 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

Previously: Because of recent flooding, Barton Springs Pool is closed until further notice. Deep Eddy Pool is opening three hours earlier at 6 a.m. to accommodate the swimmers who normally go to Barton Springs Pool.

5. A new East Riverside Drive Raising Cane's location will offer free chicken for a year to the first 20 people in line when it opens next Tuesday. The first 100 people will receive a custom T-shirt that commemorates the opening as well as a free box combo for their next visit.
