CEDAR PARK

Cedar Park City Council, Place 2

Mel Kirkland

Occupation: landscape project consultant

Top priorities: balanced sustainable budget; facilitate healthy growth while maintaining our identity and values; implement core services the residents have come to expect

Why are you running for this position?

MK: I love living in Cedar Park, it's a great place to live, work and play. My focus is to continue helping my neighbors have a similar experience. It is important that as Cedar Park continues to evolve, we maintain our identity, culture and values. Safety, healthy families, strong business environment and rock-solid city services are the foundation of Cedar Park!

How will you help Cedar Park recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic?

MK: The COVID-19 pandemic has required us to rethink how the city communicates and provides services. While we work through the stages of the pandemic we have the opportunity to re-work initiatives and programs, taking the time to refocus for the future. During the last 6 months, I have really seen the heart of the residents support each other.

Bob Cornelius

Occupation: founder/CEO of 90 Degrees Agency, LLC (marketing/advertising firm)

Top priorities: property tax reform (lowering property taxes); fully funding our police/fire departments; expedite infrastructure projects to meet population growth

Why are you running for this position?

BC: I have a unique perspective of Cedar Park. My family has been here for nearly five decades. I can draw from our past to build a foundation for the future. I want Cedar Park to be a city where our citizens can live, work, and play. We need a city council with a plan to attract new families and businesses.

How will you help Cedar Park recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic?

BC: The way Cedar Park recovers is by getting government out of the way of our families and small businesses. Let’s let our citizens decide what is right for them and their families. Let’s open businesses to full capacity. They have suffered long enough. I trust our businesses to continue taking the precautionary steps to keep their employees and us safe.
