Updated 11 a.m. March 10:

Original post on Feb. 9:

Leander ISD will host six virtual listening sessions with parents, students, teachers and staff in February to discuss equity and diversity in the school district.

These listening sessions are one of seven action steps that the LISD Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee provided to the board of trustees Jan. 28. Since the meeting, the district has published an equity, diversity and inclusion web page on the LISD website. LISD is also adding an equity and diversity section into its district newsletters beginning Feb. 10, according to the district.

The district said feedback and additional action steps from the listening sessions would be presented to the board of trustees at a spring meeting.

"Leander ISD is committed to listening and working to understand instances of racial inequity and other discrimination in our district," LISD said in a release. "We want to support our students and families by shining a light on the truth that racism and inequity exist in LISD and use this information to make changes for the better."
