Vik Medical, an Austin-based urgent care and family practice under the ownership of Dr. Michael Vik, expanded its services in the Lake Travis and Westlake areas in 2016.
The Vik Medical office in Westlake added a Vik Complete Care ER in May, offering a full-service emergency room that is open all day, every day of the week, including holidays. In July, Vik Medical in Lakeway relocated to the Oaks at Lakeway shopping center and added a Vik Complete Care ER as well.
Vik Medical also opened a new appointment-based concierge service at its Westlake office June 1, offering hormone-replacement therapy, chronic disease management, comprehensive physical assessments and care for other non-acute conditions.
Vik Medical Concierge patients pay per appointment, Practice Manager Andrea Connell said.
The latest
“We didn’t know what to expect when we opened [Vik Medical Concierge] because this was the first time we had really ventured to try something like this,” Connell said. “Most of our patients were existing clients we had been serving in other ways, but we are growing.”
The appointment-based service focuses on seeing patients on time and giving one-on-one attention to clients in an unrushed environment, she said.
What’s next
Connell said there is room to almost quadruple the concierge service’s clientele, and services such as hormone-replacement therapy may also be expanded.
