Kor180, a fitness company that spins together high-intensity interval training, nutrition and giving back, has opened its second location in North Austin.
“Our mission is to live an inspired life,” said Maja Kermath, who co-founded Kor180 with Don Kermath in 2014 in Austin. “We curated the experience around exercise, nutrition and community.”
The new location opened Jan. 25 at 11005 Burnet Road, Ste. 106, just across the street from The Domain. Maja Kermath said Kor180’s goal is also to make the boutique fitness industry more accessible by creating a place where anyone would feel welcome.
Kor180’s HIIT classes are available in Reform, based on Pilates, or Ryde, based on indoor cycling. Through a blog, the Kor Kitchen offers weekly recipes, programs and grocery lists to help people take control over their kitchens, Maja Kermath said. Recipes include gluten- and dairy-free options.
On the pillar of community, Kor180 has raised more than $50,000 for local nonprofits, hosts “bucket list” trips such as to Costa Rica and has pop-up Pilates classes at Whole Foods Market.
“Inspired living is all about the great people you surround yourselves with,” Maja Kermath said. “There are few opportunities to do so. We foster and create these opportunities.”

Farm-fresh eatery expands into Austin
Boulder, Colorado-based
Modern Market will open its first Austin restaurant in late spring or summer.
Co-founder Anthony Pigliacampo said he and co-founder Rob McColgan have eyed Austin for four years before finding the right location near the Arboretum at 9828 Great Hills Trail. Modern Market’s concept meshes well with Austin’s culture, Pigliacampo said.
“We love places that have our people in them: people who care about what they eat,” he said. “… Austin has this amazing food culture and a dearth of what we do, which is healthier faster options.”
Pigliacampo said the fast-casual, farm-fresh eatery offers fresh, healthy options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, such as breakfast sandwiches, salads and whole wheat pizzas cooked in a brick oven.
“Our protein comes off the carving station right onto the salad,” he said.
While in Austin on Feb. 12, Pigliacampo said he is meeting with local food producers to figure out who to use for products such as iced tea, coffee, kombucha, spices and beer.
“We make a really big effort to meet and use many local vendors as we can,” he said.
Modern Market was founded in 2009 and has 17 locations, including four locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, where it is planning two new restaurants. For more information visit
