Ten Thousand Villages Volunteers work to get the new location for Ten Thousand Villages on Burnet Road ready for its March opening.[/caption]

After a decade on South Congress, Ten Thousand Villages is moving to another booming corridor.
The nonprofit charity offers handmade jewelry, art, sculpture, textiles, gifts and other works by artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Money from product sales help the artisans who make the products pay for food, education, healthcare and housing.

The move to 4803 Burnet Road will help the store double its existing space. The new location is slated to open in March, but there are some construction challenges that could delay the opening.

The additional space enables the addition of a chocolate bar with 13 flavors from around the world as well as Ugandan Sseko sandals, year-round clothing options, a new interior line, furniture and customer favorites such as singing bowls and recycled sari throws. The South Congress Avenue location will close Feb. 28. 512-440-0440.
