PAWS Shelter of Central Texas Hays County BBQ Fundraiser Night
Hays County BBQ will donate 15 percent of the profits they make on Thursday, Oct. 13 to PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, a group that rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife and shelters and matches homeless cats and dogs with new owners. The Annual Kyle Fair, Bull Ride & Music Fest 2016

Annual Kyle Founders Parade
The annual parade celebrates the 1880 founding of Kyle. The parade route runs east on Center St. from Gregg-Clarke Park to City Square Park, where attendees can eat free birthday cake and shop at Kyle Market Days until 2 p.m. 10-11 a.m. 512-262-3024. www.cityofkyle.com

Pet Fest
Pet Prevent a Litter of Central Texas hosts Pet Fest, an annual event aimed at raising money for their spay/neuter programs, pet pantry and other services. This year, festivities include a 5k race, live music, pet costume contests, dog races, a police dog demonstration, food vendors and dogs available for adoption. Green Home Tour
The home in Driftwood that won the Fine Homebuilding Magazine HOUSES 2015 Award as "Best Energy-Smart Home” is offering free tours to learn how the zero-energy home was built and an opportunity for attendees to learn how to incorporate those elements into their own projects. Tickets are free, but must be reserved. For $12, attendees can try six different Texas Hill Country wines at Duchman Family Winery.
