Trustees to vote on sale of Austin ISD headquarters and 3 other district-owned properties
At tonight's regular board meeting, Austin ISD trustees will vote on the sales of four district-owned properties, including its 2.8-acre headquarters.
A call for bids on the properties—which include the Carruth Administration Center, the Millett Opera House, the Baker Center, and two tracts of land at Doris Drive and Tannehill Lane—were made in September.
Three local pizzerias to host final DOUGHvember dinner series Tuesday
This year’s DOUGHvember event will culminate with three local pizzerias—Home Slice Pizza, VIA 313 and Pinthouse Pizza—teaming up to benefit national nonprofit No Kid Hungry, a mission to end child hunger in America.
Hosted every Tuesday night in November by Home Slice Pizza, DOUGHvember benefits local children’s charities by donating a portion of the night’s dine-in sales.
The event will be held 5-11 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Home Slice Pizza located at 1415 S. Congress Ave. in downtown Austin.
Central Health opens new clinic in Del Valle to serve residents of east Travis County
On Nov. 20, in partnership with Travis County, Central Health and CommUnityCare Health Centers opened a new clinic in Del Valle.
In a recent press release Central Health stated health care services will be available Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through CommUnityCare, which is funded by Central Health. Integral Care, a partner of Central Health, will also provide behavioral health services on Mondays.
TxDOT could face hiccup in plans to add 4 toll lanes to I-35
Recently announced plans to add toll lanes to I-35 in Central Texas could already be facing resistance from the state’s top leadership.
On Oct. 30, the Texas Department of Transportation announced an updated $8.1 billion plan for I-35 that included adding four toll lanes from RM 1431 in Round Rock to SH 45 SE near Buda.
However, in a Nov. 16 letter to the chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission—the governing board for TxDOT—Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he opposes the agency’s plan to add toll lanes to 15 projects in the Unified Transportation Plan, which is TxDOT’s 10-year plan that guides construction, development and planning activities.
