These 17 restaurants have opened in Richardson so far this year


Richardson is known for its diverse dining cuisine. Over the past five years the number of dining establishments has increased by 34%, according to the state’s health department. As of mid-2019, the city has seen nearly 20 new restaurants open. Here is a breakdown based on genre.

Burgerim opened April 15 at 120 W. CityLine Drive, Ste. 600, Richardson. Burgerim is a fast-casual dining experience that offers packs of one, two or three gourmet burgers each weighing 1, 2 or 3 ounces. There are 10 different choices of proteins, including wagyu beef, Spanish beef, dry-aged beef, lamb, chicken, salmon, veggie and more. Diners can add a variety of toppings to create their own gourmet burgers. 469-808-1212.

Chick-fil-A opened March 21 at 106 W. Campbell Road, Richardson. The fast-food restaurant chain specializes in chicken sandwiches, salads, milkshakes and breakfast items. To celebrate, the first 100 people in line received a preloaded card to use on 52 chicken sandwich meals, valid for up to one year. 972-479-8930.

The Fifth Fireside Patio & Bar

The Fifth Fireside Patio & Bar, a new dining concept from the owners of Shady’s Burgers & Brewhaha, opened Feb. 18. Part-owners Greg Cooney and Dave Sweeney said the restaurant—located in the space formerly occupied by GB Tumbleweeds Patio and Grill at 2701 Custer Parkway, Ste. 700, Richardson—will provide Canyon Creek with a neighborhood date night venue. Guests can dine inside or on the restaurant’s fireplace-equipped patio. Menu items include an upscale spin on the classic Shady’s cheeseburger, flatbreads, salads, soups, roasted chicken, fish and steak. An extensive wine selection is also available. 214-758-0777.

Jersey Mike’s Subs opened in early March at 2040 President George Bush Hwy., Ste. 130, Richardson. The shop, which serves Northeast American-style sub sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, is part of the 11,200-square-foot expansion of The Shire, a mixed-use development near the intersection of President George Bush Turnpike and Jupiter Road. This is the third Jersey Mike’s location in Richardson. 972-423-0031.

Meteor Hamburgers opened April 8 at 1608 E. Belt Line Road, Richardson. The restaurant, which hails from Wylie, serves fresh, grilled-to-order burgers and hand-cut fries. 972-803-4880.


CHARD Southeast Asian Kitchen

Char’d: Southeast Asian Kitchen held a soft opening May 13 in the CityLine development at 1251 State St., Ste. 800, Richardson. The Char’d menu features Southeast Asian dishes such as poke bowls, bibimbap, Thai red curry chicken, steamed buns and more. Customization options are available. The restaurant also serves local craft beer, Stubborn Soda, wine and homemade ice cream.

All-you-can-eat Vietnamese restaurant DaNang Souphouse opened Jan. 26 at 1600 E. Belt Line Road, Richardson. Customers can order bottomless Vietnamese noodle soups for $16 as well as egg rolls, Vietnamese sticky rice and rice cakes. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Thursdays. 469-804-7341.

Di-an-gi opened March 2 at 2215 E. Belt Line Road, Richardson. The family-owned restaurant serves Vietnamese-American fusion food, including pho, rice noodle and egg noodle soups, rice dishes, and Vietnamese fusion tacos and burgers. 214-272-7377.

Sake Japanese Korean Bistro opened in early March at 300 N. Coit Road, Ste. 270, Richardson. The restaurant offers sashimi and a variety of sushi, including house rolls, riceless rolls, special rolls, vegetarian rolls and deep-fried rolls. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. 469-547-1618.

One Hummus opened May 8 in the Richardson Heights Shopping Center at 100 S. Central Expressway, Ste. 53, Richardson. The restaurant serves Mediterranean-style street food including falafel, hummus and baba ghanoush. Hailing from Jordan, the owner hopes for the restaurant and menu to emulate the authentic atmosphere and flavors of the Middle East. Restaurant hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. 214-228-6060.

Sayyad Mediterranean Kitchen opened Jan. 25 at 310 E. Main St., Richardson. The halal restaurant specializes in seafood and kebabs grilled over a wood fire but also serves a variety of cold and hot appetizers, salads, sandwiches, shawarma platters and more. A lunch buffet is offered Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. 972-234-9900.


El Jeffe Mexican Taste

El Jeffe Mexican Taste opened Oct. 5 at 2148 E. Belt Line Road, Richardson. The restaurant serves Mexican fare such as street tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, tostadas, tortas, nachos and flautas. The restaurant also serves menudo, a traditional Mexican beef soup, on Saturdays. 972-982-2382.

Palapas Seafood Bar opened Jan. 30 at 2100 Alamo Road, Richardson. The restaurant, which hails from its flagship location on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, serves Mexican-style cocktails and seafood dishes, including ceviche and fish tacos. 214-287-7578.

Pineda’s Mexican Cuisine opened April 29 at 1144 N. Plano Road, Ste. 119, Richardson. The restaurant serves enchiladas, burritos, tacos, tostadas, fajitas and combination plates. 214-534-4122.

Tamaleria Nuevo Leon opened in late March at 2139 Buckingham Road, Richardson. The business serves 15 varieties of tamales. 972-685-6556.


Industrial Pizza + Brew opened in March in the Richardson Heights Shopping Center at 100 S. Central Expressway, Ste. 72, Richardson. The industrial-themed restaurant offers specialty thin-crust pizzas made with fresh ingredients as well as a wide selection of wine and local craft beers. Pizza Americana

Pizza Americana, a restaurant serving salads, Neapolitan-style pizza, baked pasta dishes, local beers and Italian wine, opened Feb. 4 at 800 W. Arapaho Road, Richardson. Authentic Italian-style soft-serve gelato is also offered. The business is owned by Jordan Swim, a Richardson native who is behind the catering company Vestals as well as Carlton Provisions, a barbecue restaurant in Plano’s Legacy West. 469-466-8406.
