Friday, Feb. 8

Celebrate Black History Month

The Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library hosts a Black History Month series, featuring a spotlight on Oscar Micheaux, the first African-American to produce silent and sound feature-length films. The library will show “Lying Lips,” “Murder in Harlem,” “Birthright” and “The Exile” throughout the series. 10:30 a.m.-noon. Free. 30555 Hwy. 249, Tomball.

Friday, Feb. 8

Attend the GTACC’s Chairman’s Ball

The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its Chairman’s Ball to welcome the new chairman of the board and honor the 2018 citizens of the year. The ball features dinner, drinks, dancing and a raffle, and the theme is country legends; guests are encouraged, but not required, to dress in Western attire or as their favorite country legend. 6:30-10 p.m. $40. Enjoy casino night, concert fundraiser
