An In-N-Out Burger may be coming to the North Loop area.

In-N-Out Burger applied April 17 for permits to build a new restaurant at 4508 N. I-35, which is near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and I-35. Carl Van Fleet, the vice president of planning and development for In-N-Out Burger, said the location is a good fit for the burger chain.

"It is a great site in a vibrant area with good proximity to I-35. We're really enthusiastic about the opportunity there," he said.

Van Fleet said there is not a projected opening date for the North Loop location. After construction starts, it typically takes four to five months for an In-N-Out Burger to be open for business, he said. There is still work that needs to happen before construction starts, he said.

The first In-N-Out location in Central Texas is expected to be built and operating in Round Rock in 2013, and Van Fleet also confirmed in February In-N-Out's interest in establishing a Cedar Park location.
