Mary Katherine Shapiro's story

My name is Mary Katherine Shapiro and I am a multi-platform journalist based out of Frisco, Texas supporting our digital and editorial teams at Community Impact. I love to read and find new independent bookstores to visit. I started taking a pottery class in 2023, and I've loved having something creative to do in my free time.

What is one of your strengths and how do you use it at CI?

My top strength is WOO, or winning others over. I love meeting new people and finding ways to connect with them. I use this when I meet new Storytelling clients so that they feel more relaxed in interviews.

What is your favorite project you worked on while at CI?

I've loved writing articles for Storytelling clients, and getting to share stories about local businesses and nonprofits with the community.
