Early voting for Magnolia City Council began April 25. Registered voters can cast their ballots in person from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 25-29 and also from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. May 2-3 at the Magnolia Community Building, located at 422 Melton St., Magnolia.

Incumbent Brenda Hoppe is facing Jim Massey for Position 4, while Mayor Todd Kana and Position 5 Council Member Jonny Williams are running unopposed.

Hoppe has been a teacher in Magnolia ISD for the last 18 years and has served on City Council since 2014. She has lived in Magnolia since 2007 and serves as a board member for the 4B Community Development Corporation.

Massey is a government teacher at Magnolia West High School and the Lone Star College System. He has lived in Magnolia for the past four years. In addition to coordinating food drives within Magnolia ISD, Massey is a volunteer with the Texans United for Freedom Foundation and previously served as a U.S. Marine.
