Here are 5 things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands area.

1. The Conroe ISD board of trustees will consider adopting the boundaries for several new schools in the existing Oak Ridge feeder zone Tuesday night. The district received nearly 1,000 comments regarding zoning options for Grand Oaks High School and 150 comments for Bradley Elementary School and the unnamed intermediate school. 2. The Woodlands Township board of directors meets for the first time in 2017 at 6 p.m. Thursday. A board workshop focusing on incorporation was scheduled prior to the meeting, but it will be rescheduled for a later date in February. The agenda for Thursday’s meeting includes hearing an update on the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church expansion project and appointing members to the Development Standards Committee.

 

3. Montgomery County Precinct 3 announced late last week plans to begin improvements to Birnham Woods Drive in February. Construction plans include widening the roadway from two to four lanes between Fuller Bluff Drive and the Grand Parkway, which should be complete by mid-March. The second phase of the project will begin this summer and includes widening Birnham Woods Drive between the Grand Parkway and Waterbend Cove.

 

4. Tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo went on sale over the weekend. The annual event comes back to Houston on March 7, offering a diverse lineup of performers, from Willie Nelson to The Chainsmokers to Blink-182. Tickets can be purchased here.

 

5. Super Bowl LI may still be three weeks away, but events leading up to the game have already begun in Houston.
