Here are 4 things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands area.

1. The Texas Legislature convenes Tuesday in Austin, and local legislators from The Woodlands area have already filed numerous bills. One of the big priorities for state Rep. Mark Keough, R-The Woodlands, is property tax reform to alleviate the growing burden of rising appraisals. State Sen. Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe, also co-authored Senate Bill 2 with Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, which touches on almost all aspects of the state's property tax system.

2. Residents of south Montgomery County who live east of I-45 have more opportunities this week to weigh in on proposed attendance boundaries for new Conroe ISD schools. Meetings will focus on zoning options for the upcoming Grand Oaks High School, Bradley Elementary School and an unnamed junior high school. The first meeting is Monday night at 7 p.m. at Oak Ridge High School, a second will be held Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at York Junior High School, and a third meeting will take place at noon Wednesday at York Junior High School.

3. The Texas Education Agency released a preliminary set of ratings on Friday for school districts and campuses based on a new A-F rating system. The system will not officially be implemented until the 2017-18 school year, and the data released Friday is meant to be a trial run. See how schools in The Woodlands area performed here.

Expected to open in February, Woodson's Local Tap + Kitchen will be located at 2330 FM 1488, offering craft beer, a full bar and food with a Southern flare. Additionally, Dosey Doe Inc. will open a new restaurant concept, Dosey Doe Breakfast & Barbecue, at 2626 Research Forest Drive.
