Here are 5 things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands area.

1. The Woodlands Township will begin its resident survey in the coming weeks, randomly selecting residents in the community to participate. The township conducts the survey every two years to gain opinions of services, community issues and quality of life. Those asked to participate will receive an invitation in the mail, and results will be posted on the township’s website when the process is complete.

2. During Tuesday night’s Conroe ISD board meeting, there will be a District of Innovation and public hearing presentation. During the 2015 state legislative session, the District of Innovation option was adopted, which allows districts more flexibility for start and end dates, teacher certification requirements and class-size ratios. An innovation plan is required before a district becomes a DOI.

3. During last Wednesday’s Shenandoah City Council meeting, it was announced that Nordstrom Rack will open in Portofino Shopping Center. No construction timeline has been set, but the store will replace the Lifeway Bookstore. Nordstrom Rack offers clothing, accessories and shoes found at the department store at a discounted price.

4. The development of the township’s bike and pedestrian master plan is moving forward. During the board of director’s meeting this Thursday, representatives from engineering firm Jones and Carter will give an update on public input received in September. There will also be a public hearing on Oct. 26 during the next township board meeting. The plan is the first of its kind for the township and identifies project and program recommendations to be carried out over the next 20 years.

5. One of the final concerts at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is this Thursday. Luke Bryan, Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch will perform. The remaining concert is Flight of the Conchords on Oct. 25. Doors open for the concert at 6 p.m.
