The Woodlands area will play host to a variety of events during the month of April. Here are a few to consider adding to your calendar.

TWFG Muddy Trails Bash
April 1

The 10th annual event features a chip-timed 5K and 10K trail run, a children’s 1-mile fun run, a 2K-9 1-mile fun run and the Muddy Bowl Crawfish Cook-Off. Courses wind through George Mitchell Nature Preserve trails in the Village of Creekside Park. The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival
April 7-9

Work from up to 225 artists from across the U.S. will be featured at the 12th annual festival, which takes place in Town Green Park and along The Woodlands Waterway. The event also features art workshops, culinary demonstrations, live music performances and craft beer tents. All proceeds of the festival benefit education and outreach programs. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. (April 7), 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (April 8), 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (April 9). $15 (entire weekend), children 12 and under receive free admission. Barefoot Bands in the Park
April 8

The Montgomery County music festival which debuted last year returns with live music and entertainment. This year’s event features artists Rick Trevino and the Jesse Stratton Band. The event also features food trucks, pony rides, a rock wall, face painting and lawn games. Noon-4 p.m. Free. The Thicket, 3811 Everly Bend Drive, Spring. www.harmony-houston.com

 

Love Foster Hope Night of Hope
April 8

This fifth annual event benefits Love Fosters Hope, a local nonprofit that raises funds and awareness for children and teens in foster care who have likely been abused, abandoned and neglected. The event includes dinner, dancing, raffles and live and silent auctions. $100 (individuals), sponsorships are available. The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center, 2301 N. YMCA Dancing With The Woodlands Stars
April 13

During this annual event, volunteers compete for votes and raise funds for The Woodlands Family YMCA. Every dollar raised from the purchase of tables, seats and votes goes toward the YMCA Annual Campaign. Those competing in the event include: Becky Parsons, Carol Durkee, Christin Allphin, Jenny Taylor, Keaton McDaniel, Kevin Bass, Margaret Cecil, Marshall Guy, Marty Miller, Natalia Arjona, Trey Diller and Warner Van Stone. Breakfast with the Bunny
April 14

The Woodlands Township hosts this event at Rob Fleming Lodge featuring breakfast, an Easter craft and egg hunt. Pre-registration for this event is required. 9 a.m. $40 (resident family of four), $45 (non-resident family of four), $8 (per additional family member). www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov


Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas North American Championship
April 22

Athletes competing in this event begin with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands followed by a 112-mile bike course. Participants move on to a 26.2-mile run in The Woodlands and finish on Waterway Avenue in Town Center with spectators cheering them on. This event offers 75 qualifying slots to the 2017 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. 6:40 a.m. (athletes begin entering the water for the swimming portion of the event). Concert in the Park
April 23, 30

Throwdown Texas Burger & Music Fest
April 29

The second annual event returns to The Woodlands this spring featuring dozens of local restaurants, eateries and burger joints. There will also be live music, 30 vendors and a children’s area at the event in Town Green Park. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. $10 (early bird general admission, includes four burger samples), free (children ages 0-13). World Tai Chi Day
April 29

Every year on the last Saturday of April, Tai Chi players across the world celebrate this event to promote the advantages of Tai Chi for health of body and mind.
