Conroe ISD has begun the process of examining attendance zones for the anticipated opening of Janet K. Bartlett Elementary School serving the Conroe and Caney Creek feeder zones.

The overview

Bartlett Elementary was a part of the $653.7 million bond referendum voters approved in November 2019. The new campus is scheduled to be the last school to open as part of the 2019 bond package.

Assistant Superintendent of Operations Chris McCord said the campus is anticipated to open in August 2024.
  • Bartlett will serve pre-K through fourth grade.
  • It will be located at 11225 Cielo Drive, Conroe.
  • The campus will be able to serve up to 950 students.
  • This is the last elementary school in the northern Caney Creek and Conroe feeder area that will be constructed in the near future.
Some context

According to a presentation given by McCord during a board of trustees meeting Sept. 19, Bartlett will be able to provide overcrowding relief to the Caney Creek and Conroe feeder elementary campuses most overcapacity, including:
  • Creighton Elementary School, which is at 152% capacity
  • Runyan Elementary School, which is at 118% capacity
  • Austin Elementary School, which is at 116% capacity
  • Patterson Elementary School, which is at 115% capacity
Next steps

During the fall semester, CISD's 40-member Attendance Boundary Committee began the process of reviewing attendance zones. McCord said he expects the process to take approximately four to five months and is anticipating bringing a final recommendation to the board of trustees in January.

The process will include two live and two virtual community presentations to solicit input from parents, teachers and residents. The in-person meetings will be held at Austin Elementary, 14796 Hwy. 105.
  • Oct. 10, 6 p.m.: virtual meeting
  • Oct. 12, 6 p.m.: in-person meeting
  • Nov. 7, 6 p.m.: virtual meeting
