Las Colinas Medical Center appointed Ben Harris as its chief operating officer. Harris will leave his post as vice president of business development at The Medical Center of Plano and assume his new position on Feb. 8. He has been with the medical center since 2011.

Harris, who currently serves as deputy mayor pro tem on the Plano City Council, was instrumental in opening The Medical Center of Plano's dedicated neuroscience unit, which is one of the largest in the nation. Harris also helped improve physician relations, achieving physician satisfaction rankings in the top 3 percent of hospitals across the country, according to a news release.

“Ben has been an exceptional member of our senior leadership team,” said Charles Gressle, CEO of The Medical Center of Plano, in the release. “He has a reputation for strong leadership with rapid execution and accountability. Ben has made a significant contribution to The Medical Center of Plano’s ability to provide exceptional health care to our growing community.”

Harris received a Bachelors of Arts degree in government from University of Texas at Austin in 2000 and a Master of Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University in 2015.

As chief operating officer at Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving, Harris will be responsible for the daily operations of the 100-bed full-service hospital with more than 550 physicians and more than 450 employees.
