At a news conference Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones and his family made some announcements regarding new businesses and monuments coming to The Star in Frisco, a 91-acre mixed-use development.

The new Cowboys practice facility will have an interactive Ring of Honor Walk presented by Dr Pepper recognizing every former player and coaches in the Ring of Honor at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

“We knew from the beginning it was going to have to be more than a practice facility … at the end of the day we saw this as a mixed-use development,” Cowboys COO Stephen Jones said.

There will be 21 monuments representing 21 members of the Ring of Honor, with No. 12 Roger Staubach and No. 88 Drew Pearson, who were both present at the conference, placed 50 yards apart in honor of the legendary Hail Mary Pass.

“To have that extended here to The Star in Frisco is just amazing,” Pearson said. “No one in the NFL is doing it like the Dallas Cowboys, right? We set the standard, we did it back in the day and the best thing about it is we’re continuing to set the standard.”

Pearson said that his grandson, who plays football at Lone Star High School, would be playing at the facility next year.

The Cowboys also announced new restaurant and business partners coming to the development. Some of them include well-known restaurants from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, such as Liberty Burger, Mi Cocina, Nestle Tollhouse Café By Chip and Neighborhood Services.

Dee Lincoln Prime, a high-end steakhouse, will also be opening its first location at The Star. City Works, based in Minnesota and Tupelo Honey Café, based in North Carolina, will be opening their first Texas locations at the development.

Next Step Dance Performing Arts Center, located in Frisco Square, will be moving to The Star by the fall.

Next Step owners Rita Allen and Michelle Stafford said the Cowboys reached out them a year ago in hopes for them to relocate their dance studio to The Star.

“We all thought this would be [a great partnership], especially with having the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders nearby,” Stafford said. “We’re so excited that this is happening.”

Next Step was the only Frisco business to be announced as one of the new tenants at The Star.

Frisco Chamber of Commerce President Tony Felker said with The Star coming in, attraction from businesses was to be expected.

“We knew The Star would bring new things to Frisco and the regional area,” Felker said. “This will further bring more attention from businesses interested in Texas and Frisco.”

The facility will be home to all Dallas Cowboys football operations and practice fields and also include a 12,000-seat multipurpose indoor stadium to be used by the city of Frisco, Frisco ISD, and the Dallas Cowboys.
