Why are you running?

I am running because I want to improve the city of San Marcos. I feel that the issues facing our city can be solved and improved.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge facing the city?

The greatest challenge facing San Marcos is to maintain the integrity of our single family neighborhoods. High density apartments and housing complexes are not compatible with single family neighborhoods. The City Council must place a priority on preserving our neighborhoods.

Why do you believe you are the most qualified candidate?

I believe I am the most qualified because I have served on several boards and commissions. I have served as a member of Planning and Zoning for eight years, in this capacity I have developed an understanding of the workings of city government and the issues facing the city. I am a native San Marcian and have a heart and desire for making San Marcos the best city in central Texas.

What do you believe the city should do to protect neighborhoods while ensuring adequate housing for students?

High-density apartments should not be allowed in single-family neighborhoods. Apartments could and should be allowed in certain areas of the city, which would not impact single-family neighborhoods.

What do you believe the top priority should be as the city begins administering the $25 million disaster recovery grant from 2015’s two floods?

The $25 million should be used to study, plan and make changes to the city’s infrastructure. A civil engineering company should be contracted to develop a plan to solve the flooding issue. The city must implement this plan, not ignore the problem by using the “100 year flood plain” excuse.
