Kathy and Kirby Walker, owners of Niks Kitchen+Bar, collaborated with Ashley and Ross Goolsby to create a casual, waterfront restaurant adjacent to the Sandy Creek Yacht Club on Lake Travis.

Niks on the Lake, located at 8714 Lime Creek Road, Volente, is anticipated to open mid-June, Ashley Goolsby said. The Four Points couple is giving the former Cafe Blue site a “facelift” to allow the 200-seat restaurant to be open year-round, she said.

The moderately priced eatery will be accessible by car or boat and offer menu items such as salads, hamburgers, sandwiches and a few signature dishes from Niks’ original RR 620 location, Ashley Goolsby said. The proprietors are also working with Deep Eddy Vodka to create unique cocktails to complement the establishment’s wine and beer options.

“We wanted to maintain the name ‘Niks’ because they have a great reputation in the area for quality,” Ashley Goolsby said. “However, [Niks on the Lake] will offer lake fare and a Southern American menu with yummy drinks and an awesome wine list.

“We know [our diners] will be starving from [a day at] the lake. We’ll have great food that we can get out to them quickly.”
