The city of Round Rock will break ground on two fire stations Nov. 16 at 10 a.m.

Fire Station No. 4, at 1301 Double Creek Drive, and No. 8, at 1612 Red Bud Lane, are intended to improve response times to the city's east side.

“The construction of these two fire stations is to improve the response needs of the community and shows our city’s dedication to the safety and well-being of our citizenry,” Battalion Chief Shane Glaiser said in a statement.

The total cost of both stations is $4.1 million. They are the first to be constructed with bond funds approved by voters in 2013. The stations will include the typical amenities for fire rescue personnel and are deigned to be energy efficient, according to a statement from the city.

According the the statement, construction is expected to be completed in about 11 months, weather permitting.
