Residents along the I-35 corridor in the Austin area are being asked to exercise caution as dry conditions can lead to wildfires.

On Oct. 14 Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape issued a disaster declaration in light of a wildfire known as the Hidden Pines Fire that had enveloped 1,512 acres as of 3:12 p.m. that day, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The fire was 50 percent contained as of that time.

According to the National Weather Service, Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson counties are among the areas in which fire conditions are most critical.

"Elsewhere conditions will not be as favorable but still a concern for the spread of fires," a NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook states.

Dry conditions will persist through the afternoon of Oct. 14 and can aid the spread of any fires in the affected areas, according to the NWS.

Fire weather concerns will continue through Oct. 20, the NWS outlook states. Relative humidity levels are forecasted to drop near 20 percent in the afternoon. South to southeast winds will reach 10-15 MPH.
