The city will apply larvicide and spray the pools Sept. 4-6.
These are the third and fourth pools to test positive for the virus this season, according to a city press release. No human cases are confirmed in Frisco.
The first targeted area for spraying includes off-road greenbelts within the Shaddock Creek Estates neighborhood.
The second targeted area includes off-road locations near Rolater, between Hillcrest and Coit.
A third-party contractor will treat larvicide and conduct off-road spraying using using all-terrain vehicle, according to the release.
Spraying will begin Sept. 4 at 10 p.m. and continuing through 6 a.m. Sept. 5.
Spraying will resume in the same general areas on the evening of Sept. 5 beginning at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Sept. 6.
Environmental Health Supervisor Julie Stallcup said the positive pools are a reminder that mosquito season continues through fall.
“Even as temperatures take a turn toward cooler weather, our citizens need to be aware that mosquitoes can be active through October,” Stallcup added.
The Texas Department of State Health Services urges residents to practice the “Four D’s”:
- Drain all standing water
- Dress in light-colored clothing and wear long sleeves when outdoors
- Deet—use mosquito repellents that contain Deet
- Dusk or dawn—avoid activity during the hours when mosquitoes are most active.
