The Nutty Brown Cafe and Amphitheatre will relocate from Southwest Austin to Round Rock after Round Rock City Council on Thursday approved the sale of McNeil Park to the venue's owner.

City Attorney Steve Sheets said the city offered for sale the 18-acre park property, which is located near I-35, and received a bid of $1.1 million. Sheets said city staffers asked about the property's intended use in the property's bids. Staffers learned that the buyer--named in city documents as James Michael Farr--listed the intended use as relocating the Nutty Brown Cafe, Sheets said.

The Nutty Brown Cafe is a well-known music venue and restaurant in Southwest Austin at 12225 W. Hwy. 290. The restaurant's current property was purchased by Texas grocery chain H-E-B earlier this year.

McNeil Park is located off I-35 in Round Rock just south of University Boulevard.

Update 9:24 p.m.

According to a post on the Nutty Brown Cafe and Amphitheatre's Twitter account, the venue will stay at its current location throughout 2015 and 2016, and move to Round Rock afterward.
