ThermaSol is operating out of a factory in Round Rock while the permanent facility is built.[/caption]Mitchell Altman, owner and CEO of ThermaSol, said he has a passion for bringing an environmentally friendly, luxury experience to people in the comfort of their homes.
ThermaSol sells home-based steam showers and also offers accessories to enhance the steam shower generators, such as sound systems and fog-free mirrors.
“Showers never go out of style,” Altman said. “They are cleansing, and with the steam shower people can partake in aromatherapy. ... It’s very holistic.”
Selling an environmentally friendly product is important to Altman, he said. Altman said his product can help save water because people who take a steam shower will probably spend less time bathing, as they are already refreshed from their steam shower.
“A 10-minute steam shower probably uses 2 gallons of water at most,” Altman said. “A shorter shower after can also mean less water is used.”
Hotels and bathhouses were the primary customers of steam showers when the company was formed, but ThermaSol now sells primarily to private residences. Altman said the company sells approximately 30,000 units each year.
ThermaSol moved its headquarters from California to Round Rock last year after an incentive agreement helped bring the company to the city.
“Round Rock was the total package,” Altman said. “The school system looked great for our employees and their kids, [and] there is entertainment and dining. ... Round Rock really gives you everything a big town has while still maintaining a small town-feel.”
ThermaSol is working out of a temporary factory in Round Rock while the construction of the permanent facility is underway. Altman also purchased a plot of land across the street from the permanent facility, which will soon be a business park, housing the new ThermaSol factory and leasing to other businesses.
“It was a great opportunity,” Altman said.
Altman said the address of the new facility will be 1958 Steam Way to pay homage to his grandfather forming the company in 1958.
