Goodman Manufacturing is set to improve the infrastructure surrounding its upcoming air conditioning manufacturing plant off Hwy. 290 west of Cypress.

The company will rebuild and resurface portions of two rural roads—Kickapoo and Kermier—north of Hwy. 290 to the end of Goodman’s property boundaries beginning in early August. Both roads will be expanded to four concrete lanes with a 13-foot grassy median in the middle, according to Goodman Manufacturing officials.

“The result of this work will be new concrete roads that will help move the increased traffic in the area of Goodman’s new Cypress Creek Campus,” Goodman spokesman Graham Painter said.

Work on Kickapoo Road is expected to take about three months, while construction on Kermier Road should take about four months. The work will be paid for by Goodman Manufacturing. Construction is not expected to block passage of the roadways, but there may be times when a flagman needs to control traffic in the area, Goodman Manufacturing officials said.

Located about three miles west of the Grand Parkway north of Hwy. 290, the Cypress Creek Campus is expected to open by mid-2016. The facility will manufacture a full range of energy-efficient ducted residential and light commercial products as well as various ductless products that are currently imported from outside the U.S.
