A number of new developments in the Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake area are being constructed or about to begin construction.

Although some of the developments are not in the cities’ limits they are expected to have positive benefits for residents as some feature new retail, restaurant and hotel opportunities.

In Southlake, representatives from Medici Development Partners and Cambria Hotel and Suites along with city officials and dignitaries broke ground July 8 on the city’s second hotel, Cambria Southlake.

Cambria Southlake will be located in Kimball Park, a new development under construction at the northwest corner of SH 114 and Kimball Avenue.

Jeff Medici, founder and managing partner of Medici Development Partners, said he decided to develop Kimball Park in 2012 with the intention of building a second hotel.

“We already have the Hilton Hotel right now, but I think from a family perspective we really need a second hotel that is a little bit out of the congestion and offers larger rooms—most of the rooms are going to be suite size,” Medici said. “And I think we need another option for folks that are coming into this area.”

The ceremony also introduced guests to Kimball Park. When construction is complete the development will include the 175-room Cambria Southlake hotel and conference center, a 96,000-square-foot office building, three restaurants, a coffee shop and retail uses on 15.5 acres.

Southlake Mayor Laura Hill said she is looking forward to the new development and what it will bring to the city.

“It’s going to bring something to Southlake we don’t already have,” Hill said. “It’s going to bring us more tourism, add more options for places to stay in the city and help us become more of a destination city.”

Medici said the hotel will be the first structure to open in the development, and construction is estimated to be complete 13 months from the ground breaking.

Other major developments in the area include a 194-acre development in Euless that includes retail, housing and restaurant space; a 12-story luxury hotel in Flower Mound that will overlook Lake Grapevine and feature meeting and event space; and in Coppell, near Grapevine, Wisenbaker Builder Services is constructing an 80,980-square-foot building that will house offices and a design center.
