Residents looking to recycle live Christmas trees or lights can do so at locations within their cities. Trees should be stripped off all ornaments before being recycled.

Trees can be taken to Wells Point Park, 800 S. Heatherwilde Blvd., Pflugerville, from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. through Jan. 11. Recycled trees are mulched, and the mulch is available to residents while supplies last. For more information, call 512-990-6350 or visit www.pflugervilletx.gov.

Round Rock residents can bring their trees to Round Rock Brush Recycling Center, 310 Deepwood Drive, Round Rock, from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. on Jan. 4 or during the center's normal hours, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat. Small oak trees will be given out on Jan. 4 while supplies last. Recycled trees are mulched and mulch can be picked up by residents for free and purchased by non-residents and contractors for $5 per cubic yard while supplies last. The city of Hutto is collecting unwanted and broken Christmas lights for recycling. The glass, copper and plastic from the lights is recycled and proceeds benefit Toys for Tots. Lights can be dropped off in the lobby of the city's Development Services Department, next to Westphalia Market, 409 W. Front St., Ste. 206, Hutto, through Jan. 6.
