Commissioners Court discussed turning four public streets in Overlook Estates into private roads during its July 30 meeting.

The court took no action and plans to revisit the topic in the future.

Overlook Estates' owners requested that Lenape Trail, Lenape Cove, Superview Drive and Indian Scout Trail be made private and that the owners would be responsible for road repairs and maintenance, according to county documents.

The owners intend to place privacy gates at the entrance to the subdivision.

Court members discussed entrances and exits into the subdivision and first responders' ability to reach homes if a gate were installed.

At the meeting, residents told the court they were concerned about fire safety and their ability to exit their neighborhood quickly during an emergency.

Commissioner Gerald Daugherty said he would talk with the owners and residents to reach an agreement.
