Cedar Park dedicated its new City Hall complex April 19 inside a City Council chamber filled to capacity.

The seats and walls were lined with Cedar Park residents attending the grand opening ceremony. Cedar Park Mayor Pro Tem Lowell Moore welcomed members of the faith community to dedicate the new City Hall, located at 450 Cypress Creek Road.

After several blessings were offered, proclamations from U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-District 31, and Gov. Ricky Perry were also read.

The dedication ceremony was part of a Cedar Park City Council special meeting—the first held at the new campus.

The only other items of business came in the form of an appointment. Stephen Thomas was appointed to take over the City Council Place 1 seat. He replaces mayoral candidate Matt Powell, who stepped down from the seat March 13 in accordance with the city's resign-to-run rules.
