St. David's Round Rock Medical Center recently joined Scott & White — Round Rock in obtaining primary stroke center certification from The Joint Commission.

According to St. David's officials, the certification program is based on the Brain Attack Coalition's "Recommendations for the Establishment of Primary Stroke Centers" and was developed in collaboration with the American Stroke Association.

The certification means hospitals tailor treatment and intervention to individual needs, promote flow of patient information across settings and providers while protecting patient rights, security and privacy; and analyze and use standardized performance to measure data to continually improve treatment plans.

"This certification highlights the exceptional services and high level of care we provide to our stroke patients," said Deborah Ryle, chief executive officer at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center.
